NOTD: OPI My Pointe Exactly and Revlon Stunning

I am so tired of the rain, although here in southeast Michigan we also had an appearance of snow today, which I am not any fonder of as we near the end of April!

My good deeds of Tuesday did a number on my manicure, so I decided to do a new sparkly grey look. Reminiscent of the dreary rain we are having.

OPI My Pointe Exactly is a sheer cool toned grey jelly finish polish that came out with the NYC Ballet Soft Shades 2012 last spring. The collection actually had a glitter polish in Pirouette My Whistle, which is very reminiscent of the Revlon Stunning. I don't have the OPI glitter polish because I believe I already had the Revlon glitter at the time the OPI collection came out.

Good deeds

Today for work, myself and some coworkers are going to an area food bank to donate some time. Takes me back to school when not a week went by (except finals) where I didn't donate at least a couple an hours a week of my time.

To work for a company that encourages, does not mandate, volunteerism is so inspirational and motivating.

Just wanted to share a thought about that because I find that as an adult with a full-time job I feel that I have lost my commitment to volunteerism and I refer that. My life is not so busy that I cannot donate an hour a week or am hour a month.

I am going to look into getting involved with a charity that inspires me and start donating some time.

NOTD: Revlon Brilliant Strength Impress

This is a newer nail polish that I purchased during a sale, and with a coupon of course, probably about two months ago. I have worn it a few times and I am not really sure how I feel about it.  I bought it because I thought it was a good nude, and while its not exactly what I thought it was going to be, I do seem to like it. I really enjoy the formula, this is two coats and its completely opaque. The color is almost like a muted khaki green, which is not what I was looking for, but its unlike anything else I have. I think that its a good color for the spring or fall, and I think its fresh.

New Makeup Organization

A little over a month ago, I got a new job (yay!) and as a treat to myself I bought the Ikea Alex 6 drawer unit to store my makeup.

I have had a lot of fun organizing my makeup, and while its by no means perfect, I decided that its coming along so I should share pictures of what I have going on.

I decided on the 6 drawer unit for a handful of reasons. One I really like that it has wheels, and I do move it around quite a bit. I also like that the drawers are wider and not too deep, while I have found that somethings could use a little extra height, i.e. foundations, the rest seems to work pretty perfectly. I haven't decided for sure if I am going to keep my nail polish in the Alex, it weighs the unit down and I am worried about it causing sagging issues or even breaking the drawer.

Details on each drawer ...

NOTD: China Glaze For Audrey and Revlon Radiant

In Michigan, spring can be very fickle. As a way to combate the 35 degree drop in temperature this past week, I decided a nice robin's egg blue manicure was in order. Sometimes something as simple as a manicure can help to brighten my mood.

I painted all nails with China Glaze For Audrey, a cream robin's egg blue. I really love the color. I typically do two to three coats. The first coat is streaky, but it builds up very nicely and ends up a very nice opaque creamy coverage. This is the first China Glaze polish I bought and I would say it is not my favorite of all China Glaze, in terms of formula, but I do love the color. I tend to wear this color in the spring, sometimes into the summer, and occasionally I think it can be cute in the winter. I really love robin's egg blue so there is really no going wrong for me. I have used this polish up, and recently repurchased as part of the China Glaze ombre kit in Wait Teal You See, I haven't done an ombre manicure yet, but I am excited to try it out!

I decided I wanted a little sparkle too. So I added Revlon in Radiant, a multi-sized blue-green glitter polish suspended in a clear base. I really like the variance in the size of the glitters that are suspended in the base. I really enjoy the multi-dimensional look that this glitter gives.

I really like this glitter, and find it has great staying power. I have worn this as a full manicure as well, and find with three thin coats it gives a great opaque coverage that doesn't cease to dazzle me with its sparkle.

I really enjoyed this manicure, and it lasted with minimal tip wear for five days.
