Yay or Nay?  YAY

I really like the phenomena of lip butter consistency that has emerged in the cosmetic world. To my knowledge the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter are the first of this kind, at least the first that I personally tried out. I have also tried the Tarte Lip Butter Lipsticks. And it seems like more and more brands are coming out with their own version, for example Maybelline Color Whisper and Flower Lip Butters.

What I like so much about the concept of the Lip Butter formula is the mix of rich color pigment and a glossy shine finish.  The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter formula has wonderful pigmentation.  I also really enjoy the wide variety of colors that are available.

In my collection I currently have nine colors:
Creamsicle
Gumdrop
Sweet Tart

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters come in a cream finish and a shimmer finish with glitter. I personally prefer the cream finish products. I find shimmer finished Lip Butters have a slight grit to the wear, and I do not find that as comfortable to wear. When I wear the Revlon Lip Butters I am looking for an easy and comfortable lip product, not something high maintenance or drying. I wouldn't say the cream finish are moisturizing per se, but I do not think that they dry the lip either.
I really like the packaging of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. The product is packaged in a sleek silver tube with a transparently colored quilted casing to mirror the color of the product. The quilted detailing in the packaging makes this feel higher end, or at least more intricate. I know some people find color matched packing to be tacky. I do not think it is. If it was garish, maybe I would feel differently, but the translucent casing and the nice quilted pattern make this feel less juvenile. I also like it for the ease of being able to garb the right color without picking up nine matching tubes and checking the bottom.

Top Row: Red Velvet, Brown Sugar, Raspberry Pie
Bottom Row: Cherry Tart, Pink Truffle, Sugar Plum
There is a downside to this slick and glossy looking lip butter, the wear time is not great. Its not like a gloss, but its not near a traditional lipstick either. Pairing with a neutral lip liner does extend the wear time, but I do not typically do that because a big reason I pick up a Lip Butter for a look is for the ease of wear and application, I do not want to be bothered with lip liner.

Another issue I find is that the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters can travel from your lips. While I do not have issues normally with lip color bleeding from my lips, but I do find that these products due to their slippery texture can travel outside the lip line. Additionally the shimmer finish lip butters I have can have glitter transfer to other parts of the face, and while I love me some glitter, I do NOT love glitter transferring from where I put it!

Overall I really enjoy these lip products, and would quickly recommend and purchase more! I do not plan on buying any more until I can get through what I currently have, and I have nine right now, so it will be awhile. But they do go quickly when you wear them on a consistent basis.

If you are looking for a nice feeling/non-drying lip product with nice sheen and good colorpay off I would recommend checking out the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. One piece of advise is shop while on sale, I refuse to pay full price for drugstore makeup and find that a good buy one get one 50% off or combining coupons with ECB at CVS can make these a steal!
